POMED Leaders for Democracy Awards Reception This Thursday

This Thursday, March 1st, POMED will host its 4th annual Leaders for Democracy Awards Reception in Washington, D.C from 7 to 9pm at the Touchstone Gallery (located at 901 New York Ave. NW).

The POMED annual awards reception is a special gathering that brings together POMED staff, friends, and supporters.  It will be a wonderful opportunity to look back on the exciting events of the past year and look forward to all the things we can accomplish together in 2012.

Each year, we honor individuals who exemplify the goals and principles that inspire our work, and we look ahead toward the year to come. This year, we are very excited to honor three individuals whose public service, activism, and commitment to advancing democratic values have inspired us: Omezzine Khelifa, Tunisian civil society activist and former candidate for Tunisia’s National Constituent Assembly (Ettakatol), Matar Ebrahim Matar, Former Member of the Bahraini Parliament (Al-Wefaq) and Ambassador Robert Ford, U.S. Ambassador to Syria.

Also, for the first time the reception will feature artwork inspired by the uprisings of the past year and a silent auction of those and other items.

You can get your ticket – and support POMED’s work in 2012 – by clicking here. Drinks and a catered reception will be provided.

Please contact Anna Newby with any questions on the reception at anna.newby@pomed.org or 202-828-9660, ext. 23. We hope you will be able to join us on this special occasion.
