Assistant Secretary of State Posner Discusses Bahrain Trip
In his fourth visit in 14 months, Assistant Secretary of State Michael H. Posner delivered a press briefing discussing his recent visit to Bahrain where he met with members of the government as well as medical professionals and human rights activists representing the opposition. Discussions focused on the “implementation of the recommendations made in the BICI report.” He reiterated the U.S. government’s commendation of King Hamad bin Khalifa’s initiative in establishing the independent commission and acknowledged that the government of Bahrain has taken important steps in implementing the specified reforms.
However, while Posner commended the reform efforts he urged that “more needs to be done in several key areas.” He cited hundreds of pending criminal cases involving a large number of detainees which have yet to be processed. Ponser called for the pardoning of “all persons accused of offenses involving political expression” and an end of the continued prosecution of 20 medical professionals.
Posner added that more needs to be done by the Ministry of the Interior to “enhance the professionalization of the police”, citing “escalating violence in the streets” and persisting lack of integration of the police force. Posner raised concerns about the issue of dismissed workers and urged all sides to come to a resolution through dialogue. Finally, Posner called on the government to “continue to prosecute” the officials responsible for the human rights violations described in the BICI report.
Posner called on all Bahraini’s to refrain from violence in the days leading up to February 14 and urged the government to allow peaceful demonstrations and uphold the freedom of political expression. He condemned the latest escalation in “violent street action” and said that such behavior “undermines public safety” and “further divides society”. At the same time, he confirmed the reception of “credible reports” of the use of excessive force by policy and advocated for the Bahraini authority to “ensure compliance with international doctrines of necessity and proportionality.’ Posner said that the U.S. “calls on all parties” to engage in dialogue and negotiation so that all elements of society have “a real voice.” The process, Posner said “must be led by Bahrain’s themselves,” and “can only succeed by building a greater degree of mutual respect and mutual trust.”
The Pomed Wire,
I am a Bahrain living abroad, please pass the following I advise Mr. Michael Posner Assistant Secretary of State and Mr. Jeffrey Feltman other Americans to study thoroughly the huge fundamental ideologies and historical differences between Al-Khalifa as a Bedouin family occupier and the aborigine people of Bahrain. Please note Mr. Posner since 14th February 2011 the enmity, hatred have exacerbated and all the people from infants to old men and women calling (Yasqet Hamad) down fall with Hamad
As you are fully aware that historically this family came from parts of Arabian Peninsula and occupied Bahrain islands by force with military help from the British forces in 1780.
Surprisingly, why the Americans with their huge force prop up this family. Why did you remove Saddam Hussein, though, this family more savage? Saddam chemical weapons and killed thousands Arabs and Kurds of Iraq and this family is using the same as know better than any one else.
.
It would be wise for both the United States of America and the British government ( Mr. David Cameron to rethink again and again that the life will never go normal with Al-Khalifa, should you have any notions in your mind that the Shiite sit for any type of compromise, consensus you may remove it promptly. Both British and US have surmounted number of arms, jets, missiles but should not be used against the armless people of Bahrain who are seeking for their legitimate rights
to deliver themselves from, usurpation, sectarian discriminating and son.
The people are asking if Al-Khalifa are Bahraini why they did accept the UN Fact-Finding Commission in 1970 and why the late Shah of Iran abandoned his claim. As the result of the referendum the UNSC gave self-determination to the people and not to a family.
It is worthy mentioning, that all the deprived people of Bahrain are unified. The Political, religious and secularist societies with the leading religious Ulama in side Bahrain and abroad had declared their fatwa to the people to fight and no no yield to the government of Bahrain.
In view of the above, the Obama Administration and David Cameron, Down Street of London should alert that the Shiite and Sunnis have both determine and take oath to change the regime by downfall of Al-Khalifa family for ever.
Furthermore, BICI Report and Cherif Bassioni are invalid and both expired and do not repeat it in your media.
Due to the foregoing, both governments (US and British) should choose either the whole population of Bahrain or Al-Khalifa family. Your interests and the fifth fleet and bases are not worthy than the human beings.
This is an independent assessment to the Bahrain Revolt. Nothing to do with demnstrations because living outside
letter with many thanks.
