Weekly Wire – January 9

POMED’s Weekly Wire for January 9 is now available.

Over the past two weeks, the offices of several NGO’s were raided by security forces in Egypt. Arab League observers were reassured after their initial visit to Homs, Syria, and a bombing rocked Damascus. President of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights Nabeel Rajab was beaten and hospitalized, while authorities announced that five police officers will be tried for torture of detainees. In Yemen, protests and unrest erupted as former president Saleh showed few signs of leaving.
