Iran: New Reports of Human Rights Abuses; Gender Segregation
The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders requested an intervention in Iran regarding the human rights violations. The Observatory highlighted the abuses and disappearances of individuals such as, Blogger Kouhyar Goudarzi, Committee of Human Rights Reporters (CHRR) Members Ali Kalaei and Saeed Jalalifar, and Journalist Kayvan Samimi, and more. Reporters Without Borders also condemned the recent increase in arrests and abuse on journalists within Iran.
Additionally, the regime is planning to separate boys and girls at Iranian preschools in the latest effort toward gender segregation in Iran. On August 21, the Education Ministry issued a directive calling for gender segregation in preschools. The directive stated, “The mingling of boys and girls is forbidden at preschool classes, except in schools where the number of students does not reach the required minimum.”
