Condemnation of Syrian Brutality by Qatar and Kuwait
The Gulf state of Kuwait condemned Syria’s continued acts of violence against protesters and called for “true reforms” to end the ongoing devastation. State news agency KUNA reported a foreign ministry official as saying, ”The state of Kuwait expresses its extreme pain for the continued bloodshed among the brotherly Syrian people…Kuwait calls for dialogue and a political solution to allow implementing true reforms that meet the legitimate demands of the Syrian people away from the security actions.” The condemnation came only after protesters urged the Kuwaiti government to publicly denounce the crackdowns on pro-democracy supporters and activists.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Hamad Ben Gassem joined the discussion and resonated that President Bashar al-Assad needed to do more to quell the continued violence within Syria. He also said that Assad should start responding to the demands of the demonstrators. “The government of Qatar express’ its deep concern over the high number of civilians casualties during the protests, we urge all the parties to start immediate talks as dialogue is the best way out of the current crisis in Syria,” Gassem’s statement read.
