Arab Youth Poll: Aspirations and Employment
July 10th, 2009 by Blake
James Liddell discusses an interesting poll recently released by Gallup. The poll measures the attitudes of Arab youth to analyze their social desires and work prospects, among other factors, in a region afflicted by youth unemployment and economic morass. Liddell writes that much of the report’s data, particularly on employment and entrepreneurship, may “provide a context in which other data on employment preferences can be used to inform development policy.”
He cites discrepancies in the results, however, that do not account for differences in the formal and informal economic sector and fail to address “sustainable” entrepreneurship.
