Michael Allen at Democracy Digest compares Gideon Rachman’s views on democracy promotion to those of Brent Scowcroft. In the Washington Quarterly, Rachman encourages the Obama administration to continue to promote democracy, despite “the inconsistencies and setbacks of George Bush’s Freedom Agenda.” Scowcroft and Rachman are both supportive of democracy promotion, and call for a principled, pragmatic approach.
