Pakistani Taliban Commander

Christina Lamb reports at the Times Online that British officials covered up the fact that a Taliban commander killed by special forces last year was, in fact, a Pakistani military officer. “It was the first physical evidence of covert Pakistani military operations against British forces in Afghanistan even though Islamabad insists it is a close ally in the war against terror.”
This isn’t the first time reports make this connection. Seth Jones from the RAND Corporation who argues that Pakistan’s ISI continues to supply money and weapons to the Taliban.
Meanwhile, Sumit Ganguly analyzes the reasons underlying Pakistan’s continuous political problems in the Washington Post. He declares “Here’s an alarming thought: Pakistan is in even scarier shape than most of the so-called experts are willing to admit.”
