More Response to Egypt’s Targeting of Muslim Brotherhood

Mona Eltahawy argues that the arrest of Khaled Hamza Salam, a moderate member of the Muslim Brotherhood who believes in pluralism, is not the way to prevent an Islamist victory in Egypt. Instead of what Eltahawy calls a guarantee on the “stranglehold of the most hardline leaders on the movement, the way to prevent an Islamist victory is to open up the political space in Egypt and nurture opponents from across the political spectrum.”
